During the 11-12 season was named WCHA Rookie of the Week. Had 25-71-96 in 160 career games to tie for first on school’s scoring by defensemen list for the DI era. Did not miss a game in four-year college career and finished with school-record 160 consecutive games played. Zach was a Four-time Letterwinner at Minnesota State Mankato. Three-time all-conference pick and was also named All-State. ![]() Zach Palmquist - Zach was Team captain for both the hockey and golf teams as a senior at South St. John coaches on both ice and wheels and specializes in exponential improvement in skill development. Coaching ages 6 through NHL athletes, John finds a special draw to helping athletes improve and grow their love for the game. John opened his first training facility in New York in 2019, and followed that with the opening of Best Shift Hockey, with his partner Kelly, in Eagan, MN in 2021. As a standout on Team Murphy, John helped the team claim 3rd place for the summer season tallying 17 goals in 19 games (7th in the league). John also had the fortune of playing in the inaugural season of the professional 3v3 league 3Ice during the summer of 2022 as seen in the US on CBS & CBS Sports. One of only a handful of players in the country to simultaneously play both games professionally. John is entering into his 8th pro ice hockey season in the ECHL, and just finished his 13th professional roller hockey season. He joined Team USA again in 2019 to bring home the gold medal in the World Roller Games in Barcelona, Spain. The team was successful in bringing home the gold medal, and World Champion title. While John’s pro ice hockey career began to take shape, he also had the opportunity to fulfill a life-long goal of playing for Team USA at the IIHF Roller Hockey World Championships in 2017. An impressive demonstration of skills opened the door to the beginning of his professional ice hockey career as well. John’s experience in professional roller hockey, and intense dedication to ice hockey, led to invitations to the New York Islanders Rookie Camps in 20. This was a pivotal time as he was submerged into an environment surrounded by veteran hockey players from various backgrounds, including the NHL, which lit an increased passion to further develop his ice hockey game. As a standout hockey player on wheels, John began his professional playing career at the age of 15 in New York. John’s journey is unique from many in that his childhood years focused much on the game of roller hockey over his time on the ice. ![]() He credits his dad for putting him on skates for the first time at 3 years old and from there his passion for the game was born.
